Can a light entrepreneur receive unemployment benefits?

1. 4-month protection period: When you start business activity while unemployed, the TE Office (TE-toimisto) doesn't assess whether the activity is your main or secondary occupation during the first four months. You can work as much as you like.
2. Adjusted unemployment allowance: Income doesn't cut off your benefit automatically — instead, it's adjusted. You receive pay for your work plus a somewhat reduced unemployment allowance on top.
3. After 4 months: The TE Office assesses the situation. If the activity is considered a secondary occupation (and you're not employed by it full-time), your right to the adjusted allowance continues.
