Do I need to keep receipts myself?
Updated
Receipts are worth real money. If you want to claim reimbursement for expenses or deduct purchases in your taxes, you need to keep your receipts.
Here's the smartest way to do it
- Photograph it right away: Take a photo of the receipt the moment you make the purchase.
- Upload it to the service: Attach the receipt photo directly to the expense claim if you're invoicing the client for the expense.
- Keep it: Although a digital copy is often enough for bookkeeping, we recommend keeping the original receipts (or clear digital copies) yourself for warranty matters and any possible tax audit.
Without a receipt, an expense can't be deducted, meaning you end up paying "unnecessary" tax on the purchase.
