Is the employment condition met for a light entrepreneur working on the side?

Updated

The employment condition determines whether you can receive Kela's basic unemployment allowance and possibly the earnings-related allowance paid by an unemployment fund. As a light entrepreneur, whether you meet the employment condition depends on what else you're doing:

  • If you work full-time and do light entrepreneur work on the side, the employment condition is met, and you can belong to an unemployment fund in order to receive the earnings-related allowance.
  • If your light entrepreneurship is alongside studies or small-scale, the employment condition is usually not met, and you can't receive the basic or earnings-related allowance.

To improve your unemployment security, it's worth considering joining an unemployment fund for employees.
