Driving log for light entrepreneurs

Uuendatud

A driving log is the light entrepreneur's most important document out on the road. It's a record of your own work hours and trips, and it shows the Finnish Tax Administration when, where, and why you've driven.

Why is a driving log needed?

A driving log is a requirement for us to be able to pay you tax-free reimbursements. These include:

  • Mileage allowances: When you drive work trips with your own car.
  • Per diem allowances: When the duration of your work trip exceeds certain hour thresholds.
  • Meal allowances: In certain special fields.

You can claim these reimbursements as part of your invoicing, as long as the trips are documented and you've agreed on invoicing them with the customer.

How do I fill in the driving log?

Accuracy is key. The Tax Administration requires that exact address details be recorded for every stop: street name, street number, city, and postal code. Just "City centre" or the customer's name is not enough.
