I have been assessed advance taxes, what do I do?
Uuendatud
Sometimes the Finnish Tax Administration assesses an entrepreneur with advance taxes to be paid independently. This means you will receive invoices from the tax authority.
If you have received an advance tax decision, do the following so that you don't pay taxes twice:
- Pay the invoices: Pay the advance tax invoices sent by the Finnish Tax Administration yourself in your online bank. Truster does not pay these on your behalf.
- Reset the rate to zero: Go to Company information > Tax rate in the app and set the value to 0%.
Why is resetting to zero important?
Truster automatically withholds tax from every invoice of yours according to the rate you have set.
- If the tax authority has already invoiced you for advance taxes, and you also have, for example, a 20% tax rate set in Truster, you will pay taxes twice.
Summary: Either you pay the taxes yourself using the advance tax invoices (with a 0% tax rate in the Truster app) OR you let Truster withhold taxes from your sales (with no advance tax invoices from the tax authority). Do not use both at the same time.
